Why choose a flanged valve instead of a threaded one?
A threaded port is economical up to about one inch. On a larger fluid line a flange becomes practical: the bolts carry the joint load, the connection can be broken and remade without cutting pipe, and the gasket is selected separately from the valve seal. On stainless lines handling weak acids or weak alkalis, a flange also removes the sharp thread roots where pitting begins.

Which flange standard and bolt pattern should be confirmed?
The catalog gives flange outside diameter, bolt circle and bolt-hole size, but the flange standard still has to be agreed in writing. Usual references are ISO 7005-1 or EN 1092-1 for PN-rated flanges, ASME B16.5 for Class-rated flanges, and JIS B2220 in some Asian plants. Two flanges can share a bolt circle and still differ in facing or thickness, so send the mating flange drawing.
